Cast your mind back before all the mince pies, pigs in blankets and Christmas songs, as we’d love to share some of our learners’ work from the last half term.
Learners taking GCSE English worked on their reading skills and one learner in particular wrote a fantastic paragraph about their interpretation of the themes in a picture book. They were challenged to explain whether the book has features of a gothic genre and the learner detailed their understanding of the illustrations and story. You can read their work here.
Most of our KS3 and KS4 Maths learners studied place value, number skills, area and perimeter this term. Learners in Year 2 of GCSE studied indices, root and proportional (including ratio) reasoning. Here are some great examples of work from R.E.A.L. Independent School Hinckley.
In Sport & PE, learners worked hard while learning about health-related exercises. The learners went to a variety of gyms in the local community to improve their endurance, strength and flexibility. They also tried different training methods, including cardiovascular, resistance and circuit training.
As part of the ‘Entry Level: History, Crime and Punishment’ module, learners at our City Hub visited the Galleries of Justice museum in Nottingham, giving them a wonderful hands-on understanding of true stories of law and justice set in a Victorian courtroom and Georgian Gaol.
