Sainsbury’s Fundraising Fun
On Saturday 29th June, the R.E.A.L. Education Mobile Classroom was officially launched at the Sainsbury’s Megastore in Mansfield by the Mayor of Mansfield Andy Abrahams, Sainsbury’s Store Manager Matt Bingham, Sean Ryan, Chairman of the R.E.A.L. Foundation Trust (RFT), and RFT Trustee Caraline Ryan.
The hottest day of the year so far, R.E.A.L. fundraisers were raising money for the R.E.A.L. Foundation Trust with face-painting, a LEGO speed challenge inside the new Mobile Classroom, and also bag packing for customers.
The day was fantastic fun for all involved and raised over £268 for the R.E.A.L. Foundation Trust. The money raised will be used to provide a mixture of fun and educational activities which meet the needs of children and young people between the ages of 5 and 19 through befriending and holiday opportunities.
The day also saw the opening of a new R.E.A.L. Education classroom based inside the Sainsbury’s Megastore in Mansfield. This partnership between R.E.A.L. and Sainsburys will give learners an inside view of how a Sainsbury’s Megastore operates, whilst also providing an additional space for classroom activities.
Sean Ryan, Chairman of the R.E.A.L. Foundation Trust said: “This is a great opportunity to demonstrate how local businesses can work together to provide facilities and fundraising opportunities for the benefit of local young people.
“The day wasn’t just about fundraising, it was also the chance to showcase the often unseen work that is undertaken by both Sainsbury’s and ourselves within our local communities. It was also great that the new Mayor of Mansfield was on hand to give a helping hand and see the new projects first hand.”
