R.E.A.L. Careers Week

Careers Week was held across R.E.A.L. Education from Monday 2nd March to Friday 7th of March 2020, and was a fantastic success.

Hubs across R.E.A.L. welcomed local employers who gave interactive talks about their industries and learners also went on trips to local colleges to explore their future options.

College visits included Vision West Nottinghamshire College and Nottingham College, with ITS College coming into R.E.A.L. Alternative Provision School (RAPS) to talk directly to learners.

Employers such as Woodhead Construction, Lumilec and the British Army visited to give inspiring careers talks to learners. There were also dedicated activities throughout the week, designed to inspire R.E.A.L. learners and propel them to think about their future potential careers.

Clare Walker, School Lead for Employability said: “The aim of Careers Week is to support learners with their plans and aspirations for their future, bringing them together with educators and businesses for careers talks and events. Learners were given the opportunity to engage in quality and meaningful interactions with employers which will support them to better understand the links between their course, skills and employability pathways open to them.

“Thirty three sessions took place over the week and over 100 learners across R.E.A.L. Education participated.

“The learners all developed their employability skills – getting along with and working well with other people, being reliable and dependable and their team working skills.

“It was a fantastic week that sparked the imagination of our learners and really inspired them to think about their future.”
