Lest We Forget
The R.E.A.L. Creative Digital advertising board recently displayed different images to their usual local business advertising, at our Woodhouse Road Hub in Mansfield.
R.E.A.L. staff and learners worked hard to create a wonderful display for Remembrance Day on the 11th of November. Everyone got involved; sharing stories of family members affected by the war, whilst they were busy painting, cutting and drawing.
Learners from other Hubs across R.E.A.L. also marked the occasion, by creating wonderful outdoor displays and art. One of our learners created a fabulous silhouette collage, depicting a soldier and his horse against a backdrop of red skies, whilst learners at Sneinton Mechanics crafted beautiful metalwork poppies.
Inside the Ilkeston Hub, learners and staff were greeted by a wonderful Remembrance Day display, which included poems surrounded by learners’ artwork and handmade poppies. Outside, in the garden, learners had created a fabulous memorial, consisting of a cross, poignantly adorned with a soldier’s rifle, boots and helmet, surrounded by poppies.
In the morning, staff and learners went outside to take part in a two minute silence and the learners were absolutely fantastic, showing respect and maturity fitting for the occasion.
We are so proud of everyone who took part in the Remembrance Day displays and activities, working hard to show respect and gratitude for those who have lost their lives.
