Land Based Studies
Our Land Based Studies provision offers a highly practical, hands‑on experience in both horticulture and animal care. Set within a 1‑acre rural site, learners work with a wide range of animals including pygmy goats, poultry, small mammals, and reptiles—alongside taking responsibility for horticultural production across our polytunnel and outdoor growing areas.
The curriculum includes:
- Planting, cultivating, and harvesting produce
- Animal husbandry and welfare
- Site maintenance and environmental care
- Safe use of manual tools and petrol machinery
Learners complete a wide range of practical and written tasks designed to build competence, confidence, and employability.

- Level 1 AIM Awards – Working in Animal Care Industries
- Level 1 AIM Awards – Working in Horticultural Industries
Learners achieve two qualifications in their first year, with the option to progress onto the Extended Awards in year two.
