Trips and experiences are a regular part of the educational experience for R.E.A.L. learners.
In January, one trip included a visit to the ‘Brick by Brick’ LEGO exhibition at the Harley Gallery in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The exhibition was full of interesting work by international artists who had all taken their inspiration from LEGO bricks.
R.E.A.L. Adventure learners also had a trip to the National Holocaust Centre and Museum in Newark last month. The learners looked around the exhibitions and enjoyed taking part in interactive sections of the museum. They also even had the privilege of listening to a talk from a Holocaust survivor – described by one learner as a “once in a life time opportunity”.
‘R.E.A.L.’ literally stands for Re-thinking Engagement and Approaches to Learning. By giving learners different experiences such as these trips, it can increase engagement levels and help to positively influence attitudes towards learning.
