R.E.A.L Inclusive Zone Basketball Success!
On Wednesday 25th April, the R.E.A.L. Education Inclusive Zone Basketball (IZB) team competed in the IZB National Finals at the University of Worcester.
IZB is an action-packed sport that combines running and wheelchair basketball. It is a four-a-side game, enabling participants with or without a disability to play the same sport, on the same team, at the same time.
As Regional Champions for the East Midlands, the R.E.A.L. Education IZB team were competing at the National Finals against teams such as Lambeth – an elite team selected from all schools in the London Borough of Lambeth.
The R.E.A.L. team won three out of their five matches at the finals, placing them 5th in the country!
Paul Gaskin, Tutor at R.E.A.L. Education, Leicestershire said: “It was such a fantastic day with the learners. They all coped so well and managed to stay focused despite coming up against two very good teams at the very start of the competition. Well done all involved and special thanks to Nigel Hind, Lloyd Hankins and Tia Ross.”
If you know a learner who would like to get involved in IZB, please do contact Paul Gaskin via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
