Digital Arts get R.E.A.L.
A learner from R.E.A.L.’s Digital Arts course has been busy creating their latest project – a professional promotional video for R.E.A.L. Education – what it stands for and what it can offer learners.
Jamaal created the promotional video with Neil Kellow, Lead Teacher of Digital Arts using state-of-the-art equipment from scratch in just a few days.
The promotional video is just the tip of the R.E.A.L. Digital Arts iceberg. Based on Nottingham Road in Mansfield, the R.E.A.L Education Digital Arts department offers a totally unique learning opportunity. With courses from level 1-4, all learners are immersed in the atmosphere and operation of a professional commercial digital arts studio – right from the beginning of their course.
Level 4 learners are responsible for running their own Digital Arts enterprise company – offering commercial work as part of their course to customers across the UK. This involves meeting clients, preparing briefs and following through with the finished product – all done through a unique apprenticeship system; instead of learners paying for their own education through grants and loans, R.E.A.L. Education employ them to carry out commercial work for 2 days per week. This allows learners to be paid for their work whilst also sharpening their skills with commercial clients.
All learners from Level 1 upwards are encouraged to participate in commercial meetings, production and projects. This prepares them for the reality of work within the digital arts industry whilst also allowing them to see the reason behind the learning that they undertake. This unique approach means learners get a true grasp of their future potential.
All R.E.A.L. Digital Arts courses are bespoke, but still based on the Qualifications and Credits Framework (QCF) government table equivalency. This means that R.E.A.L. are able to direct every aspect of learning to what the industry wants and future-proof learner’s skills.
Technology used at R.E.A.L. Digital Arts is directly applicable to the industry and includes: film editing, special effects and 3D modelling and animation software (as used by industry professionals), drone SUAS cameras, 3D printing, 3D scanning, broadcast quality cameras and photographic equipment. Digital signage, internet content creation, website building, aerial footage and photography, film production, visual special effects, 3D visualisation, classic design, marketing material production, branding, 2D and 3D photography and 3D print manufacture are just some of the commercial services offered by the department.
Neil Kellow, said: “It is a pleasure to be part of the development of R.E.A.L. Digital Arts, where skilled young people can finally reach their potential and are able to succeed in creative industries that have previously been poorly supplied with the proper training.”
Jamaal said: “By coming to R.E.AL. Education, I now feel I can go way further than I think anyone, including myself, expected!”
