Blidworth Community Event
To celebrate Random Act of Kindness Day last month, Blidworth Hub hosted a very special event to bring R.E.A.L. learners and staff together with the local community.
Residents from Hatzfeld House Care Home, Blidworth, were invited to R.E.A.L. for a game of bingo and a cream tea.
R.E.A.L. learners helped to get the room ready, set tables, brought hot drinks through to guests and also helped to clear up afterwards. One learner also took on the role of the bingo caller!
Jo McGonigle, a Specialist Teaching Assistant at R.E.A.L. Independent School, arranged the event with Emily, the activities co-ordinator from Hatzfeld House. Jo said: “I am so proud of our learners for welcoming new people into their school in order to work together with the local community.
“Events like this give the residents of Hatzfeld House an opportunity to leave the home and engage with new people. The next event is being organised, and it will be fantastic if we can bring learners and residents together for regular events throughout the year.
“I would like to say a big “thank you” to the staff at Blidworth – without their flexibility, help and generosity the event would not have been possible.”
